原修读科学的Michael Schindhelm,很快便发现自己醉心于艺术文化领域,最后决定接受挑战,执掌Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (DCAA)。在此之前,Schindhelm为全球最大歌剧组织──柏林的Stiftung Opera之执行总监,亦曾于瑞士Theatre Basel参与多项剧作,亦与巴塞隆拿、布鲁塞尔、阿姆斯特丹、威也纳、柏林、罗马、萨尔斯堡等地区的剧场合作,并于欧洲、中国及东南亚作巡回演出。
为突显杜拜对文化、风俗及艺术的重视,DCAA创立并实行文化策略,目的为保存国家及民族特性。它鼓励于杜拜居住的逾二百个民族参与其中,复兴杜拜的文化艺术,使之成为蕴含多元文化的城市。此外,当局亦希望透过建造地标建筑,将杜拜营造成汇聚文化艺术的集中地,引起公众积极讨论,提高他们对文化活动的参与性。当局亦致力培育人才,除了发展文化艺术课程,更广邀国际级教育学府合作,吸引艺术家到访杜拜,并启发当地文化人才远赴海外吸取更多经验。
2007年,Schindhelm拍摄了一出以鸟巢」为主题的纪录片,收录有关北京歌剧院及其建筑公司Herzog & de Meuron的故事。Schindhelm乃Herzog & de Meuron的顾问,目前正与arte-TV及Swiss TV (SFDRS)合作,拍摄另一出有关北京国家体育馆的建造过程之纪录片。
Schindhelm过去曾主持Swiss TVSF1的艺术评论节目《Der Salon》 。在2003年,他编写及监制了一出有关蒙古的纪录片《Lied der Steppe》(英文译名为Chants of the Steppes),分别于arte-TV、3Sat及Swiss TV (SFDRS)广播。他亦热爱写作,同时撰写非小说类书籍、两本长篇小说、两份歌剧剧本、话剧,亦曾为德国媒体撰写多不胜数的论文及文章,分别于《Die Zeit》、《Süddeutsche Zeitung》、《Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung》、《Die Welt》、《Weltwoche》及《Basler》多出俄罗斯话剧。
Schindhelm于苏联的International State University毕业,及后以其研究取得Science in Quantum Chemistry 硕士学位。

Michael Schindhelm began his education in science and he quickly drifted into the world of art and culture eventually taking on one of the most exciting tasks when he took charge of the Dubai Culture &
Arts Authority (DCAA). Prior to this role, Schindhelm was executive director of the Stiftung Opera in Berlin, the world’s largest opera group, and the Theatre Basel (Switzerland) working on productions with Barcelona, Brussels, Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Rome, Salzburg and touring throughout Europe, China and South-East Asia
The DCAA aims to highlight Dubai as a dynamic culture, heritage and arts centre. Its aim is to create, drive and support cultural strategies while preserving national identity. It will build upon Dubai’s status as a multicultural city, encouraging its more than 200 resident nationalities to contribute to culture and arts renaissance. It also wishes to create a physical infrastructure to position Dubai as an overall culture, heritage and arts venue as well as increase awareness in cultural activities by initiating a robust dialogue with the public. It nurtures talent through the development of culture, heritage and arts curricula in schools and through partnerships with leading educational institutions to attract artists to Dubai and inspire local talent to go abroad.
In 2007 Schindhelm filmed a documentary, ‘Bird’s Nest,’ focusing on the Beijing Opera House and the Herzog & de Meuron in China. He has been a consultant to the premier architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron and is currently collaborating on a documentary film on the construction of the Olympic Stadium in Beijing for arte-TV and Swiss TV (SFDRS).
In the past he has hosted the arts and culture review show ‘Der Salon.’ Swiss TV SF1 and in 2003 he wrote and directed ‘Lied der Steppe’ (‘Chants of the Steppes’), a documentary film on Mongolia for
arte-TV, 3Sat, Swiss TV (SFDRS). He is also a published author having written non-fiction books, two novels, two opera librettos, plays, numerous essays and articles for the German press (Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Welt, Weltwoche, Basler Zeitung), and has translated various Russian plays.
Schindhelm studied at the International State University Voronezh (USSR) and after his research he gained his Masters of Science in Quantum Chemistry.
