南条史生

东京六本木森美术馆总监

 

南条史生是东京六本木森美术馆的总监,致力将展馆营造为一个可让参观者悠然自得地体验文化并从中得到启发的地方,亦希望透过个中交流,感受艺术。

美术馆一向以独特的角度展出来自世界各地,特别是亚洲的顶级艺术,以其独到的方针展出不同领域包括摄影、设计、时装、建筑的艺术品,展现当代富国际视野的创作。除了举行主要的展览外,美术馆亦透过「MAM Project」系列,主动发掘及支持来自世界各地的年青艺术家,为他们在馆中展出其作品。

一直活跃于文化界的南条,主要成就包括于第四十七届威尼斯双年展的日本馆及第一届台湾双年展担任特派专员。他亦曾担任1998年英国Turner Prize的评审委员、2000年悉尼双年展的遴选委员。其后,他更日本馆总监、2001年横滨三年展的美术副总监、2005年第五十一届威尼斯双年展金狮奖的评判,以及2006及2008年新加坡双年展开幕礼的美术总监。

南条曾为多个公开及商业美术项目担任顾问,包括1995年东京新宿的公共艺术项目I-Land、1999年福冈的综合发展项目Hakata Riverain、1999年日本著名企业Obayashi Corporation的东京总部、2006年新加坡的VivoCity Public Artworks。他更是国际博物馆协会现代美术馆委员会(CIMAM)的董事局成员及国际艺术评论协会(AICA)的成员。

他亦常被邀请成为多个艺术奖项及驻馆艺术家计划的遴选委员。1998年,他更为东京六本木森美术馆著作《Where to for the big museums? A New Strategy for Survival》一书撰写序言。

南条是东京庆应义塾大学的艺术评论家及讲师。

 


Fumio Nanjo
Director
Mori Art Museum

Fumio Nanjo is the director of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. Its aim is to be a place where people can experience the culture of their own time as well as be inspired by art and share those experiences with others through lively dialogue.

The museum takes the lead in introducing the most cutting edge art from around the world and in particular Asia, placing emphasis on the concepts of being ‘contemporary’ and ‘international’ by introducing works from a wide range of genres that includes photography, design, fashion, and architecture, always from a unique perspective. In addition to the major exhibitions the museum’s ‘MAM Project series’ actively seeks out and supports young artists from around the world, providing an opportunity to exhibit their works in a museum.

Nanjo’s main achievements include being the commissioner of the Japan Pavilion at the 47th Venice Biennale and the 1st Taipei Biennale. He was also a member of the jury committee for the Turner Prize in1998 and member of the selection committee for the Sydney Biennale (2000). His experience also extends to being director for the Japan Pavilion at EXPO 2000 in Hanover, artistic co-director of the Yokohama Triennale (2001), jury member of the Golden Lion Prize for the 51st Venice Biennale
(2005) as well as artistic director of the inaugural Singapore Biennale (2006 and 2008).

Having served as a consultant on several public art and corporate art projects including the Shin- juku I-LAND Public Art Projects (Tokyo/1995), Hakata Riverain Art Project (Fukuoka/1999), Art Project for Obayashi Corporation Head Office (Tokyo/1999) and VivoCity Public Artworks (Singapore/2006), Nanjo also holds advisory positions which include board member of Comité International des Musées d’Art Moderne et Contemporain (CIMAM) and member of the Association International des Critiques d’ Art (AICA).

He is also involved in the selection committees of several art awards and artist-in-residence programmes In 2008, he wrote the lead essay in Where to for the big museums? A New Strategy for Survival (comp.by Mori Art museum, 2008).

Nanjo is also an art critic and a lecturer at Keio University, Tokyo.
