HAHN VON HANTELMANN is a young office of landscape architects founded in 2006 by Inga Hahn and Nicolaus von Hantelmann. Our main approach is an individual and sensitive design process towards the origin of place, which is reflected from the first sketch to the detailed end product. During that design process the client’s or user’s requirements and wishes are central aspects of our conceptual strategy.

 As the built environment is in a permanent process of change and therefore gaining complexity, urban places and landscapes evolve equally into versatile spaces of design and social status.Each place has its own history, specific spatial situation and position within a wider context. Thus the questions of a potential future use and individualshape become central aspects, which further feed our conceptual approach in general as well as our design strategies in specific: Therefore a new place starts to form itself by adding new aspects to it or uncover already existing hidden qualities.

The place starts to interact with its environment.

 Within that interaction, plants are essential design elements for us in terms of articulating a scale of an individual private garden as well as a complex landscape design. Thus the plant becomes an architectural element, which develops various characteristics during the seasons expressing sensuality.

由于已建成的环境始终在发生变化，变得越来越复杂，因此城市和景观都演变成为同等多样化的设计空间和社会地位。每个场所都有自己的历史、特定的空间状况和处于更广泛背景下的地位。因此未来的潜在用途和个体形态问题便成为核心要素，它进一步丰富了我们的一般概念方法以及我们的特定设计策略：从而通过为自己增添新的元素或者展现自己早已存在但被埋没的特质，新的场所开始进行自我塑造。这个场所还开始与周围环境发生相互作用。

从表现一座独特的私家园林的规模以及复杂的景观设计的角度而言，在这种相互作用当中，植物是我们设计的基本要素。因此，植物也成为一项建筑要素，在表达感性的季节中呈现出千姿百态的特征。
